Bulk department creation: How to add multiple departments at once

If your organization or team has many departments, it may be more efficient to add them all at once.

1. Admin console

Upon logging into Morningmate, access the Admin Console by selecting it at the bottom of the left-hand menu bar.

Only admins within an organization have access to the Admin Console menu, where they can add or remove other admins.

3. Downloading an Excel sheet
You can download the Excel sheet by clicking on the "Download Excel" button and saving the file.

4. Filling in the Excel sheet
To fill in the Excel sheet, provide the department code, name, upper department code, and display order for each department.

  • Department code
    To identify each department, you can create a unique code using a combination of characters and numbers. For instance, you could use "A" to represent R&D, "B" for Marketing, and "C" for HR. To specify a team within a department, you can add a number to the department code. For example, R&D Team A could be represented as A01, while Marketing Team B could be B02. To further specify a sub-team within a department or team, you can add a letter to the code. For instance, R&D Team A - Research part could be represented as A01a:

    R&D = A, Marketing = B, HR = C …
    R&D Team A = A01, Marketing Team B = B02 …
    R&D Team A - Research part = A01a …

  • Department name
    Please provide the names of your teams or departments.

  • Upper department code
    The upper department refers to a team that oversees or manages another team. For instance, if R&D Team A is managed by another team, the upper department code for R&D would be A:
    A team that manages R&D Team A = R&D → Upper department code = A

  • Display order
    Arrange the department codes by their level or hierarchy. For instance, you could assign 1 to R&D, 2 to Marketing, and 3 to Business Support. To specify a team within a department, you can add a number that corresponds to its level. For example, R&D Team A could be assigned level 1, while R&D Team B could be assigned level 2. Similarly, Marketing Team A could be assigned level 1, Marketing Team B could be assigned level 2, and Marketing Team C could be assigned level 3:
    R&D = 1, Marketing = 2, Business Support = 3 …
    R&D Team A = 1, R&D Team B = 2 / Marketing Team A = 1, Marketing Team B = 2, Marketing Team 3 = 3 …

    4. Uploading an Excel file
    To ensure accuracy, review the department codes, department names, upper department codes, and display order after uploading the Excel file.

5. Organizational information
To view and modify your organizational information, access the "Orgnisational chart" feature in Admin Console, where you can add, edit, or delete information on the organizational chart.
