Want to get a clear overview of complex projects and workflows at a glance? The Gantt chart is one of the most powerful tools in Morningmate. 😊
You can view and adjust task schedules across projects you're participating in, making it much easier to manage timelines and coordinate work effectively.
When should you use the Gantt chart?
✅ When you need to plan the schedule for an entire project after starting a new project
✅ When you need to schedule newly added tasks while checking the timelines of ongoing work
✅ When you want to view your team's progress and schedules in one place
✅ When you're working on projects that frequently require new tasks and schedule adjustments
1. Gantt chart layout
① View settings
Customize the display based on your needs, such as viewing all tasks, tasks assigned to you, tasks you've requested, and more (explained below).
② Filters
Add filter conditions to display only the task posts that match specific criteria.
③ Grouping
Group tasks based on specific task fields for easier organization. For example, you can group tasks by assignee, status, or other criteria to categorize and review work more efficiently (explained below).
④ Hide
Show or hide specific fields as needed to customize how task information is displayed and managed.
⑤ Task fields (columns)
In addition to default fields such as Task Name, Assignee, and Priority, you can add custom fields to organize and track work according to your team's needs.
Tip!
Due to the chart area displayed on the right side of the Gantt chart, a maximum of five task fields can be displayed at once.
⑥ Task list area
Displays all task posts registered in projects you participate in. You can also add new tasks and subtasks directly from this area.
⑦ Chart (bar) area
Displays task bars based on each task's Start Date and Due Date. Bar colors reflect task status, and due dates can be adjusted directly by dragging the bars.
⑧ Collapse all / Search / Gantt view settings
You can collapse all expanded task groups, search by task number or title, and customize the chart view by Day, Week, Month, Quarter, and more.
Tip!
If all tasks are expanded, click Collapse all to quickly organize the view.
To jump directly to today's date on the chart, click the Today button in the View settings area.
Hold Shift and scroll your mouse wheel to quickly move horizontally across the chart.
Click the Display area settings button or resize the task field section to view the Gantt chart on a wider screen.
2. Managing tasks with the Gantt chart
1) Tasks must have a start date and due date
A task must have both a Start Date and Due Date to appear on the Gantt chart.
If a task is not displayed, make sure both dates are specified. You can add them directly from the task list area.
2) Adjust dates by drag and drop
You can modify a task's Start Date and Due Date directly by dragging and dropping its bar in the chart area.
3) Easily manage task posts
You can edit task titles, statuses, start dates, due dates, assignees, and more directly from the task list area.
While reviewing the Gantt chart, you can also quickly create and update additional parent tasks or subtasks.
Tip!
Before adding parent tasks or subtasks from the Gantt chart, it is recommended that you clear all filters amd set the grouping option to Group.
① Add a parent task
Hover over a group and click the Add task (+) button that appears, or click Add new task.
② Add a subtask
Hover over a parent task and click the Add subtask button.
You can create subtasks up to five levels deep.
4) View task details
Hover over a task in the task list area and click the View details button to open the task.
From there, you can review details, edit the task, leave comments, add reactions, bookmark the post, and more.
5) Save custom views
(1) Save your preferred view
After configuring filters, grouping, hidden fields, and other settings, click the View settings area on the left (for example, All tasks), select Create, and save the configuration for quick access later.
(2) Load saved views
You can access saved views at any time from the View settings area.
